Holistic Approaches to Health and Wellness

In many cultures, the “wise women of the village” were the ones who could see the whole picture. They didn’t just treat a physical ailment; they understood that a woman’s energy, relationships, purpose, and connection to nature were all part of her vitality. Somewhere along the way, modern life taught us to separate those pieces, and many of us have felt the cost.
For me, this understanding became personal long before I became an entrepreneur. I was working as an orthopedic office coordinator in 2013 when my body sent a message I couldn’t ignore. The constant push, long hours, and stress were part of what triggered my RA gene to “turn on.” Science shows that environmental and lifestyle factors can influence how our genes express themselves, and that’s exactly what happened to me. Looking back, it was a turning point that eventually led me to functional medicine, behavior change, and, in 2018, launching my business to help women navigate their own wellness journeys.
Holistic health isn’t just about treating symptoms, it’s about looking at the whole person. That means seeing beyond the physical body to the two parts we all live from: our Soul Self and our Life Self. The Soul Self is calm, clear, fiercely capable; your inner CEO. It’s the part of you that’s aligned with your values, your truth, and your purpose. The Life Self is the programmed part of us; the version shaped by past experiences, cultural expectations, and fear.

When we make decisions from the Life Self alone, we often end up creating stress, chaos, and results that don’t truly reflect what we want. But when we start from the Soul Self and allow those decisions to flow into the Life Self, we create something that aligns with our mental clarity, physical well-being, emotional stability, and spiritual purpose. This is where holistic health and alignment meet; and it’s the difference between running on fumes and leading with energy and vision.
It’s a bit like baking a cake. You wouldn’t eat flour or butter on their own and expect to enjoy it. But when all the ingredients work together; physical health, mental clarity, emotional resilience, spiritual grounding, they create something far greater than the sum of the parts. Failure, setbacks, and lessons learned are ingredients too. On their own, they may be hard to swallow, but blended into your whole-person journey, they give depth, strength, and richness.
For businesswomen and entrepreneurs, this matters more than we realize. When your Soul Self is leading, your energy is higher, your clarity sharper, and your ability to weather challenges stronger. You show up differently, in the boardroom, on a stage, with your clients, and in your own life.
When your Soul Self is leading, your energy is higher, your clarity sharper, and your ability to weather challenges stronger.
The good news? You don’t have to change everything at once. Small shifts, like adding nutrient-rich foods, setting aside quiet time in the morning, or creating intentional breaks from technology, can create ripples that strengthen both your body and your spirit. Over time, those ripples build the stamina and clarity you need to not just survive, but thrive.
Holistic health is about coming back into relationship with yourself, honoring your Soul Self, supporting your Life Self, and creating alignment between the two. When that happens, the result isn’t just better health; it’s a life that feels aligned, empowered, and full of possibility.
