Mindful Productivity: How to Slow Down to Achieve More

Bringing mindful practices and healthy habits into your routine can significantly

enhance your overall well-being and productivity. Read on for new habits that support a

high-vibe lifestyle, helping you gain momentum in all areas of your life.

Do you have a favorite ritual you like to practice in the morning or evening?

This is the perfect time to shift gears and establish nourishing habits for a whole new

season. Whether you are moving into summer in the northern hemisphere, or winter in

the southern hemisphere, it’s essential to start the day with centring. This could be a

simple practice such as sitting on your meditation cushion, or by an alter, wearing a

prayer shawl as you pray and meditate, or simply looking out to observe nature “waking

up". It could also mean some gentle or vigorous exercise, listening to a motivational talk, or reading something inspirational.

Setting Up Your Daily Blueprint

Orienting yourself to the day ahead and setting your intentions is crucial. Consider what

qualities or attitudes you want to bring into the day, and let these guide you.

Whatever you put on your to-do list, let it be action steps that are aligned with your true

values. Make sure you include self-care, preferably at the top of the list. If you took the

first step of centering, then you can already check this one off!

Time is precious, and should be held with such tenderness, rather than something you

feel you have to "kill" or "spend". Time is also very consistent, with the same number of seconds in a minute, minutes in an hour, and hours in a day (except daylight savings

of course). So, choose consistency over urgency to move into the flow of how you wish

to tend your time. How do you wish to honor the gift of time you've been given? Do you tend with tension or tenderness? Reflect, then take inspired action that harmonizes your vision and mission.

To Slow Down to Achieve More

Make a List or Two

Healing doesn’t take time; it takes alignment. To slow down to do more, consider what

mindful productivity habits support alignment of who you are, what you do, and how

you want to lead your life.

Flourish by nourishing your spiritual well-being with habits that create openness,

grounding, and energy to support all the tasks on your list.

Consider making a "to-be" list. How would you like to be in your life? How would you like to express your uniqueness? What would your day look like then?

Now, place your "to-be" list alongside your "to-do" list. Do the items on your "to-do" list support the person you want to "be"? What can you shift to bring things into alignment? Take command and lead your life.

Plan Your Break Away

During the day, it’s essential to take breaks to re-group and center yourself. This could

be sipping your favorite beverage, enjoying a nourishing meal, taking a walk, or going

for a run. Sometimes people use breaks to catch up on correspondence, news, or errands

which can actually drain you. Consider what is most nourishing and productive for you,

and ensure it aligns with your lists.

For a true break, consider a day or weekend retreat. Perhaps even longer. You can create this yourself or sign up for an organized one. Retreats are known for providing

relaxation, rejuvenation, and a deepening of daily practices. Retreats strengthen your

spirit and you restore peace and well-being. They give you the space to power up. Don't think of it as sacrificing time, but as a way to gear up and gather momentum.

Activating The Power Within

At the end of the day, as you prepare for sleep, create a simple practice that allows you

to complete the day. This doesn’t mean rushing to do everything you planned. Instead,

acknowledge yourself for what you were able to accomplish and be okay with what

didn’t get done.

As you surrender, you make space to emote, rest, and sleep. Recollect and relax. This is

a time to wind down, settle in, and turn in. Although the term “turn in” originally meant, "go to bed", consider it can also mean to turn inwards.

This is a time when you can set the intention to quiet your soul, keep your mind calm

and clear, and rest. What can you do to create the right conditions for this renewal time?

Consider turning off screens an hour or two before bed, What would you think of

journalling, doodling, or coloring? How about meditating before bed? Also consider

cleaning and tidying up so you have a “clean slate” in the morning.

Mindfully close the curtains or blinds, switch off the lights, and gather what’s needed for comfort and relaxation. Try some bedtime yoga to unwind and prepare the body for

sleep. Choose a simple practice that nurtures, heals, and supports your well-being, without trying to incorporate “everything”. Start with one practice, then try others to see what works best for you.

Slow down to re-align. Whatever you choose, give yourself time to practice fitting this

in so that it eventually becomes a natural part of your daily routine. Self-mastery takes

time. Slow down to achieve more, be more, and expand into new ways of being. You got

this!
